SharePoint 2010

At Sound Idea we pride ourselves on the fact that many of our favourite projects (intranets and Websites) are developed in Sharepoint. In addition, the versatility of this platform has enabled us to write SharePoint web parts of our own (when required.) In 2010, one of the many Microsoft releases was SharePoint 2010.

• Although we realise in the long run. Moss will be replaced by Sharepoint Server 2010 we can and still do develop for Moss 2007 and have several handy Web Parts available for that platform.
• Although the same will happen with WSS, replacing Microsoft Office SharePoint Server, we still develop with WSS and have Web Parts and systems for this too.
• The (already fast) Search capabilities will be significantly enhanced in this version. This will translate well into the search facilities built into our own SharePoint based Software products.
• Usage Reporting and Logging is a core functionality of the programme and will complement the data tracking systems that we have already built web parts for in previous SharePoint projects.
• Possibly the most exciting addition will be “Visio Services.” This will significantly upgrade the diagram and visual capabilities of our systems.
